Former L.A. King Jack Johnson sells one home, loses another to foreclosure
Former L.A Kings defenseman Jack Johnson, who revealed last year that he had filed for bankruptcy as a result of his parents’ wild spending, has divested himself of one Manhattan Beach home and lost another to foreclosure.
Johnson, now a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, sold a remodeled townhouse in guard-gated Manhattan Village for $1.3 million or $350,000 less than the original asking price.
The 1,800-square-foot home, formerly owned by longtime L.A. Lakers forward Luke Walton, features an upgraded kitchen with a tiled backsplash, fireplaces done in broken glass and wired surround sound.
Three bedrooms and three bathrooms include a master suite with a four-person steam shower and a walk-in closet.
Outdoors, a hedged patio lined with Saltillo tile has a fire pit and a built-in barbecue.
Johnson bought the house from Walton in 2007 for $1.235 million, property records show.
Andrew Mortaza of Keller Williams was the listing agent. Randy Erickson of Evergreen Realty repped the buyer.
A second Manhattan Beach home owned by Johnson was foreclosed on in January and sold at auction for $2.125 million. Property records show he paid $1,500,015 for the 2,972-square-foot house, which had been extensively updated, in 2011.

It was reported in November that Johnson, 28, had lost almost all of his nearly $18 million in career earnings because of the free-spending habits of his parents. Among his claims is that his parents borrowed $15 million against his future earnings to furnish their lavish lifestyle.
The former third-overall pick spent the better part of six seasons with the Kings before being dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets for center Jeff Carter in 2012. He had 40 points in 79 games for Columbus last year.
