Mark Ruffalo got a pleasant surprise from one unselfish individual, even if said individual had no idea who the actor was when he did a good deed.

Ruffalo, 46, who plays the rage-fueled Hulk in Marvel’s “The Avengers” and has lately been the subject of “Hulk” movie buzz, reportedly forgot his wallet Friday in a Chicago taxi. A guy named Ross McHale found it and tried to get in touch with the actor to return it, according to TMZ.

Because McHale didn’t know who Ruffalo was, he did a Web search, the site said, turning up only the actor’s screen credits, which include “The Kids Are All Right,” “You Can Count On Me” and the Emmy-nominated HBO film “The Normal Heart.” Unfortunately, that information didn’t help much in terms of returning lost property, so the good Samaritan decided to tweet at the actor.

“@MarkRuffalo I have your wallet. Found it in a cab in chicago on Friday. Let me know the best way to get it back to you. Thanks,” McHale tweeted Saturday.

“@Trezeduet thank you! Wow! Another point for the decency in people,” Ruffalo responded, then requested that McHale send him a direct message.

Apparently, Ruffalo hadn’t offered a reward for the misplaced wallet, but that was OK with McHale.

“If [Mark] ever finds my wallet, I expect him to return the favor,” he told TMZ.

Ruffalo’s rep said the actor was unavailable Wednesday to respond to a request for comment.
