Rihanna wants to make Puma more like Rihanna

Rihanna has plunged into her new role as creative director for German sportswear maker Puma, visiting the company’s headquarters this week to pick out colors and fabrics and discuss the line’s future. She wants to “give it a youthfulness, make it hip, basically [make it] Rihanna,” she told WWD. [WWD]

American Apparel founder Dov Charney is officially out. He was formally fired as chief executive on Tuesday after an investigation of his behavior reportedly found “financial improprieties” and abusive behavior toward employees. Students at Otis College of Art and Design in L.A. are being taught and mentored by professional volunteers this year. Zaid Affas, Joe McCarty for Lane Bryant, Liliana Casabal for Morgane Le Fay, Trina Turk and Bob Mackie are working with the senior class. The junior class is working with lingerie designer Mary Jo Brunoand designers from Urban Outfitters, Isobella & Chloe, Anne Cole, Quicksilver, DC, Roxy and Pacific Sunwear, the school said in a news release Wednesday.
