Two health events you don’t want to miss: The ‘Cancer Schmancer’ summit and free yoga in Malibu
Wednesday marks the second-annual “Cancer Schmancer” Health Summit spearheaded by actress Fran Drescher. The event will cover an array of cancer-related talks; the holistic approach will be discussed by actress Marilu Henner and her husband, Michael Brown, who dealt with his bladder and lung cancer diagnoses by opting out out of chemotherapy and radiation and making lifestyle changes. Also scheduled to be in attendance: Sheila Patel, medical director of the Chopra Center, who will share how conventional medicine can be fused with practices like ayurveda. Other talks will cover immunity health, mental health, men’s health and the importance of safe cosmetics. Tickets start at $175. A free downward dog for you
A pop-up fashion boutique in Malibu is the site of a free yoga event Saturday. Led by Nicole Sciacca of the Los Angeles yoga studio Playlist, which offers classes set to upbeat, specially mixed music, the class will take place at the Bailey 44 store at Malibu Lumber Yard.
