More than 200 California flights canceled on 2nd day of Northeast storm
For the second consecutive day, a powerful winter storm blanketing the Northeast has spurred the cancellation of hundreds of flights going to or from California.
At least 106 flights to or from Los Angeles International Airport and 99 flights to or from San Francisco International Airport were canceled Tuesday, according to FlightAware.com. Nearly 30 flights connected to Orange County and San Diego also have been canceled.
Most of the cancellations are connected to flights heading to or from Boston, New Jersey and New York, the areas hardest hit by a blizzard that moved in Monday night. The storm dumped as much as 2 feet of snow on Boston but delivered much less snow than expected to New York and New Jersey, where authorities restarted mass transportation Tuesday after a one-day shutdown.
Thousands of flights have been canceled or delayed nationwide. Boston’s Logan International Airport said it probably would not resume flights until Wednesday.
Major U.S. airlines gave most customers a chance to rebook their flights Monday and Tuesday for no extra fee because of the storm.
