Rick Perry’s mug shot quickly transforms into an Internet meme

Texas Gov. Rick Perry's mug shot has become the Internet’s newest, favorite, cut-out, dress-up doll.

Perry was booked and photographed Tuesday after he was indicted on two federal counts related to abuse of power charges that he has vehemently denied and says are politically motivated.

His mug shot went viral as soon as it was released and, almost as fast, people began to add their own touches to the photo. Perry is hardly the first potential presidential candidate to be caught up in an Internet meme: A meme featuring Hillary Clinton reached such heights in 2012 that she personally acknowledged it.

A selection of the work on Perry's mug shot is below. Perry's office has not returned a request for comment on the popularity of his mug shot.
