Swing during the wee hours at a new high-tech golf complex in Las Vegas

Share

Add this to your to-do list on your next Las Vegas trip: Work on your golf game -- at 3 in the morning, if you like. A new high-tech Topgolf range behind the MGM Grand casino-resort just opened with swimming pools, lounges and a concert venue.

The newest and largest of the company’s 24 locations nationwide sits on eight acres at 4627 Koval Lane.

Here’s how it works, according to a news release: Each golf ball a guest whacks contains a microchip, allowing a computer to track the accuracy and distance of each shot. Points are awarded for hitting targets in the outfield, and teams of up to six can compete in each bay.

The golf games are designed for people of various ages and skill levels.

At the Las Vegas site, there are 108 hitting bays, which are climate-controlled and feature comfy seating and high-definition TVs.

You can also enjoy swimming pools (there are two), the concert space and live entertainment at the Birdie Bar, one of the five lounges at Topgolf.

There’s no charge to hang and watch others swing their clubs. For those who want to play, bay rentals start at $30 an hour for up to six players.

Topgolf is open 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
